The woods rendered in Infrared film, near Portland Oregon, 1968. Infrared film was developed some years ago by the military as an aid in detecting camouflage from the air. As you can see, healthy green plants are rendered red. Dying branches are less red, and green paint is not red at all. Since then, infrared imaging has been used extensively to measure vegetation amounts and to assess woodland health.
